Welcome to a Brand New Blog.
This is an exploration of how branding, design and creative communications are shifting in the world of emerging technologies. I’m interested in learning how brands are (or are not) adapting. Along the way, I’m hoping to observe the many new and creative ideas in marketing and communications. I also want to hear what you think, so please send me feedback or scoop on your favorite branding and design innovations.
I’m embarking on this journey as part of a digital communications course at Columbia University, but my interest goes much deeper. The foundation for my career began at New York advertising agencies, where I learned the principles of brand positioning and strategy. I oversaw the consumer research, strategic and creative development, and production for iconic packaged goods, corporate image and non-profit campaigns. I am grateful for the eye-opening and maddening experiences I had in advertising and for all that I learned. Presently, I’m a director on the marketing and communications team for a large and dynamic non-profit institution, where I manage internal communications, event coordination and external advertising.
Originally born in New York City, I was raised in Annapolis, Maryland where my family still lives. I’m a proud Baltimore Orioles fan, despite the team’s (ongoing) lack of success. I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Mass Communications from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. I try to travel as often as I can, to places near and far, working on my photography skills along the way. Tambien estoy aprendiendo español (I’m also learning Spanish).
